11.25.2011- VRCA Release Concert Rescheduled to Sunday December 11th!

This week, local music production and promotion company The Collective Music Group officially announced the rescheduling of the release for the first ever Valley Rising Compilation Album. Originally scheduled for a late August release party at the Iron Horse, the festivities were postponed due to Hurricane Irene. No one involved was willing to let a Hurricane get in the way, so the artists are back and the momentum is stronger than ever, setting the stage for an epic show featuring 11 rising independent musicians from the valley.

The Valley Rising Compilation Album is a project designed to highlight and develop the fantastic independent music scene that is emerging in the pioneer valley today. While the valley has always had a vibrant music scene, a great deal of the current music “rising” out of the valley is extremely well produced and has tremendous potential for national exposure. With that in mind, The Collective Music Group has compiled 12 of the best rising independent musicians in the area and will feature them on this compilation album set to release at The Iron Horse on Sunday Sunday December 11th at 7pm. Here is a full list of all artists involved: Jamie Kent & The Options, Darlingside, The Sun Parade, Lux Deluxe, Heather Maloney, Doug Ratner & The Watchmen, Wolfman Conspiracy, Infinite August, The Raft, Sandy Bailey, Dave Dersham, and Joshua Meltzer. 11 of the 12 artists will be present at this show, and rocking.

The foundation of the idea aims to create a strong collective of independent musicians all working full time to turn their passion into a career. This will allow these artists to share fans, business ideas, shows, and to collaborate on future musical endeavors. All of which are hugely important if one wants to survive in today’s quickly evolving music industry. The album artwork was designed by Christopher Millette, local artist and former Arts Council Grant recipient. In return for his work, his art will be displayed at The Iron Horse the night of the show.

Last and most importantly, the proceeds from the album sales will benefit the Artists, and The Northampton Community Music Center, a place where many of the musicians involved got their start. This project is supported and made possible by The Northampton Arts Council, O’Connell Care at Home, and 93.9 WRSI.

Tickets can be purchased (while they last) at www.iheg.com, at the Northampton Box Office, or from any of the artists involved!
